LE PARC KASAMATSU
The visitor can also enjoy this beautiful green tombolo from a distance, thanks to several viewpoints from the surrounding mountains. Kasamatsu Park is one of them. You can climb there thanks to a funicular or a chairlift, which is the best option when the weather is good (round trip: ¥680 / adult, ¥340 / child). Indeed, during 6 minutes, you can enjoy the ascent or the descent, sitting on small colored chairs, while contemplating the view which becomes more and more beautiful, more and more impressive. We reach then the Ama terrace, located at 130 meters above the sea level. The panorama is really magnificent and one understands then why this view is part of the three most famous views of the country. Funny anecdote, this terrace is called Ama Terrace. When pronounced in the Japanese way, the name makes a nice nod to Amaterasu, the goddess of the Sun in Shintoism. They also practice a confusing custom on paper: matanozoki ! This ancestral tradition puts the visitor in a very particular position. You have to turn your back to the bay, bend (or even fold) forward and try to look, between your legs, at the "bridge to paradise". The tombolo then looks like a bridge floating in the sky or a dragon fluttering between the clouds. A small souvenir store and a restaurant, with large windows, are also located on this terrace to enjoy the view with a hot drink.
