AWAODORI KAIKAN
Tokushima is known for its popular dance parade: Awa odori (during the O-bon ritual from August 12 to 15). People from the city and surrounding areas come to dance from place to place to the rhythm of the shamisen of the Yoshikono song, waving their arms in cadence. The Yoshikono is a song from the Edo period, spiritual and romantic at the same time. In this museum, on several floors, you can live or relive this festival throughout the year thanks to videos, explanations, an exhibition room... An unavoidable step to understand this phenomenon.
