CHIKURIN-JI
Both the temple and the botanical garden are located within the grounds of Godaisan-kōen Park. The temple is part of the pilgrimage of 88 temples listed by Kūkai. It bears the number 31. A beautiful five-story pagoda sits atop the hill. The temple treasury contains a number of statues from the Kamakura and Fujiwara periods. The temple was founded by Gyōki and the garden was designed by Kokushi Musō. The main Hondō building dates from the Muromachi period. Its garden is classified as Meisho (beautiful landscapes of Japan).
