KUSHIDA-JINJA
Located less than 10 minutes walk from Gion Station, this large shrine is part of the daily life of the city's residents, who warmly call it Okushida-san. It is dedicated to the gods Ohatanushi-no-mikoto, Amaterasu-omikami and Susanowo-no-mikoto. In 1585, during the restoration of Hakata, Toyotomi Hideyoshi contributed to the reconstruction of the present main building of the shrine. The famous Yamakasa festival, which livens up the summer in Hakata, is dedicated to Kushida-jinja. Take time to admire the large gingko tree.
