This shrine, which dates from 1625, was built by Katakiyo Aoki, who became the first head priest of the place. Most of the shrine burned down in a fire in 1857, but it was rebuilt, even more majestically, by the grace of Emperor Komei in 1869. A place for meditation, it is mainly known for being the place of the most important festival of the city: the Okunchi festival, which takes place from October 7 to 9. It is even one of the three major festivals in Japan. It is designated as an important intangible cultural property.

Friendly sanctuary located at the top of one of the hills of Nagasaki. It's very nice to walk around, and the city view is interesting.
