On Nishi-zaka Hill is the Wall of the Twenty-Six Christian Martyrs Crucified in 1597. The memorial dates from 1962, and at the back is a museum about the history of Christianity in Japan. There you can meet a really passionate curator who will tell you about their history, that of Paul Miki, a Japanese Jesuit seminarian, of Jean Soan or Jacques Kisai, both catechists. Several Christian objects dating from this period are on display.
