During the Edo period, feudal estates could set up schools, called hanko, to educate the children of samurais. Examples today are quite rare, so it is very interesting to discover in Obi the Shintoku-do, a samurai school established in the early 19th century. Built in 1831, it is now a small museum behind which is the Tanouehachiman shrine, which can be reached by climbing some steps. Further on, you will also see the Ioshi Shrine with its garden or the Chikkōen Park.
