MIYAZAKI HEIWADAI PARK
The interest of the park lies in the fact that it has brought together a number of reproductions of Haniwa figurines found in kofuns. These unglazed clay figurines are said to have a magical value rather than a role as a substitute for alleged human sacrifices. They were at first simple clay cylinders and then, little by little, took the form of objects, animals, and finally human beings. They are practically the only tangible evidence of the Yamato period between the 3rd and 6th centuries. You can see the Peace Tower, erected in 1940.
