Behind Taizo Temple, there are two large Buddhas carved in the cliff. One, six meters high, represents the Dainichi Nyorai and the other, eight meters high, represents the god of Fire. These stone bas-reliefs remain the most important of their kind in Japan. Viewing these sculptures requires some effort, as they are located on a cliff wall in the mountains. The stone path gets steeper and steeper. But you will soon be rewarded, as the sight of these two monumental bas-reliefs is breathtaking.
