This cobbled street, which connected Shuri Castle to Naha Port, was built in 1522. When it was built, it was about five kilometers long. The road, paved with Okinawa limestone, now descends for 300 meters. One can still appreciate the historical side of the road, as well as some typical houses and pretty walls covered with vine. The place is photogenic in good weather. An open-air "rest house" invites visitors to relax on tatami mats.
