This stately old house, which dates from the mid-18th century, is one of the last remaining examples of the island's rich farming heritage. It was miraculously spared by the Second World War. The Nakamura house has all the characteristics of Okinawan architecture with its raised floor, but also its adjoining barn, stable and well. The furnishings on display are also of the period. This residence was designated as an important cultural heritage treasure of Japan by the Japanese government in 1972.
