The temple is located in the southwest of Ishigaki Island, near Fusaki Beach. It is located on the mountainous side of the cape called Kannonzaki. The approach with stone lanterns is the landmark. The temple, built in 1701, is revered for its sacred goddess of mercy who watches over the islanders to ensure a safe journey and good health. The temple is usually quiet and peaceful, but during the New Year it is crowded with tourists visiting the temple for the first time in the year.
