TRINITY MUSEUMS
The museum houses a remarkable collection of Russian art, made up of all the donations that flowed into this important monastery. Every occasion was good for a donation: victories, the birth of children, the accession to power of princes or a funeral. Over the centuries, the monastery became a popular necropolis for the nobility. The treasure of the Trinity is consequently constituted of the precious goods of the deceased and of works especially realized for him by the greatest artists. The monastery was itself an artistic center. It commissioned Andrei Rublev and Daniil Chorny and trained the famous David Sirakh and Eustashi Golovkin.
Its art collection covers a period from the end of the 12th to the beginning of the 20th century and makes an inventory of the evolution of techniques. It consists mainly of icons, embroidery and precious dishes. Another part of the museum is devoted to carved miniatures. The creations on wood and ivory of Ambrose, a jeweler in the second half of the 15th century, are considered the culmination of the art of miniature. Ambroise participated in particular in the cross of the altar of the cathedral. There are also beautiful pieces from the eighteenth century, where the art of chasing and filigree was pushed to the limit, used simultaneously to make exceptional "oklads". Finally, the museum houses folk art objects from the late 17th to the early 20th century.
