ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM CHURCH
Церковь Иоана Златоуста in Russian transcription, i.e. Saint-Jean-Bouche-d'Or. The church takes up the forms of the main church, but has not benefited from the decorative additions that have enriched the latter. Its silhouette is nevertheless one of the most harmonious in Iarsolavl. The bell tower, an octagonal chatior room from 1680, dominates the town from its 37 m (a nice view) and is known as the Yaroslavl candle. In the axis of the bell tower, the Holy Door (17th-18th centuries), with two octagonal floors, is also decorated with brick and earthenware motifs.
Between the Uglitch road and the Kotorosl valley you still find many churches. The church of St. Dimitri of Salonica was badly damaged by the reconstructions of the 17th and 19th centuries, but still houses a remarkable interior painting, with a clean and very sure design (made by Sevastian Dimitriev, also master builder of the church of St. Nicholas of Nadein).
The most beautiful works can be found in the chapels of Saint-Dimitri and Saint-Georges. After crossing the Netentcha ravine, you reach the small church of St. Peter the Metropolitan and then the church of St. Nicholas the Wetter, the most interesting in the area. It is typical of the region, with its five domes, without base, chapels with corners ending in chatior and a gallery. Façades and window frames are decorated with earthenware tiles, the frescoes inside evoke the life of Saint Nicholas.
