YAROSLAVL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
The museum contains about 80,000 pieces spread over 5 exhibition sites, and includes 5 sites and 3 cities in the region :
The Governor's Palace (Volzhskaya naberezhnaya, 23) with its exhibition "Russian art from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century". Among the exhibits will be great works of painters such as Aivazovsky, Levitsky, Bryullov, Repine, Savrasov, Shishkin, Levitan, Korovin, paintings by masters of the Russian avant-garde, official and alternative Soviet art, as well as works by contemporary artists. The beautiful garden of the house (open from May to October) hosts the productions of Russian and foreign sculptors.
The Chambers of the Metropolitan (Volzhskaya naberezhnaya 1) houses an exhibition of ancient Russian art, icons from the 12th to 17th centuries, including a unique pre-Mongolian monument, works of the Yaroslavl school of icon painting, icons by Semyon Spiridonov Kholmogorets and Fyodor Zubov.
The Museum of Foreign Arts (Sovetskaya ploshchad' 2). The exhibition of Western European art from the 16th to the beginning of the 20th century and Eastern European art from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century.
The house-museum of Alexander Opekushin (in Rybnici). Located 35 km from Yaroslavl in a 19th century house, this museum traces the life and art of the famous sculptor, author of the most famous statue of Pushkin in the country on the eponymous square in Moscow.
The house in Novinskaya (in Tutaev). Closed to visits due to works for an indefinite period.
