This open-air museum located across the river from the Souzdal Kremlin offers a fascinating glimpse into the traditional life of the region's rural people over 100 years ago. In addition to log houses, windmills, a barn and many tools and crafts, the Church of the Transfiguration (Преображенская церковь) and its oldest church (1756) are more than remarkable. There is also a similar museum in Kostroma.
