This masterpiece of ancient Russian architecture was built between 1194 and 1197 by Vsevolod III. The cathedral, known for its 12th century fresco fragments, is especially famous for its numerous wall sculptures. This small detail is a real rarity in Russia, since the Orthodox Church demolished a large part of them, considering that they were pagan symbols. It is true that these sculptures on the outside walls often featured strange shapes that could be interpreted in various ways.
