Dating from the 19th century, it is built in a pseudo-Russian, pseudo-Byzantine style that is a bit heavy. Inside, there are very few paintings because the cathedral, like the rest of the buildings, was used as a canning factory after the monastery was closed. In the 1920s, the adjoining monastery was closed and all the monks were deported to the Solovki Islands (the first gulags). You can only enter the tower if one of the nuns opens it for you.
