ASCENSION CHURCH
Go there and contact
Located on the territory of the former St. Alexander Monastery founded by Alexander Nevsky, the local Church of the Ascension was built in the seventeenth century with the assistance of the mother of Peter the Great, Nathalie Narychkin. What remains of this complex is a ruined part of the main enclosure, a very elegant Italianate bell tower, the church itself and the artfully carved entrance porch of this former monastery. The whole thing fits very nicely into the landscape of the Russian countryside and inspires both local stories and poets.
