The small stone house, a 17th century historical monument where the museum is housed, was the residence of Peter the Great during his stay in Vologda. It contains some objects related to the Tsar: his death mask, two Dutch work chairs dated 1704, some interesting paintings and military objects (maps, navigation instruments, models), a "mirror" with Stone's decrees, a soldier's phial and other personal effects.
