The illustrious pre-romantic translator and poet Konstantin Nikolayevich Batiouchkov was born in 1787 in Vologda. Pushkin himself considered him one of his masters. He lived in this house for the last part of his life until his death in 1855. The museum contains few objects that belonged to him, but manuscripts by his hand, including letters in French and other period documents. Ask to listen to a recording of his poems, set to music by Mikhail Glinka.
