Once infamous as the prison of the great women of the Russian world. Among those imprisoned were Ekaterina Dolgorukova, the widow of Emperor Peter II, and the fourth wife of Ivan the Terrible, Anna Koltovskaya. It includes the Cathedral of the Resurrection, which dates from the foundation, St. Dimitri's Chapel and its bell tower, which was erected by the fifth wife of Ivan the Terrible, and the Cathedral of the Trinity, which dates from the 19th century.
