A cloister housing a permanent exhibition that traces 50 years of Basque painting and sculpture with 300 works of art
The construction of this monastery is estimated to have taken place in the 11th century. First, a hospital for pilgrims run by the canons of St. Augustine, it is a century later assigned to the order of the Prémontés. After two fires, the expropriation of the Church's property by the State, only the church, the very pretty cloister, and some remains of outbuildings transformed into a museum remain today. In the cloister, a permanent exhibition entitled "50 Years of Basque Painting and Sculpture" features 300 works of art by 28 of the greatest Basque artists of the time.
