CHURCH OF SAN NICOLAS OF BARI
Parish church with a Renaissance façade in Auritz-Burguete exhibiting a recently restored baroque altarpiece
The Church of St. Nicholas of Bari is the parish church of Auritz, a village that was rebuilt after the fire caused by the French troops of the Convention in 1794. Its church followed the same fate: destroyed and rebuilt twice, its Renaissance façade dating back to 1699 still survived. The bell tower is even older, since its construction dates back to 1612. Inside there is a recently restored Baroque altarpiece (after the fire of 1962).
