IGLESIA DE SAN ANDRES
Romanesque church in Villamayor de Monjardin with later addition of a sacristy and a baroque tower
This Romanesque church dedicated to San Andrés (with some protogothic elements, a style that was widespread in Navarre at the time) was built in the 12th century, and later equipped with a Baroque sacristy (built before 1727 by Francisco de Ibarra, as was the portico, which is now in ruins) and a Baroque tower (the work of Pedro de Urbieta, who erected it between 1625 and 1641). The church's main interest lies in its magnificent wooden cross covered with silver. However, it is rarely open to visitors.
