PALACIO DE ARBELAIZ (ARBELAIZ PALACE)
It is a noble house that owes its importance to the lineage of the family of Arbelaiz and to the personalities who have been housed there: Isabelle de Valois, wife of Philippe II of Spain, in 1565, and the same year the Duke of Orleans, future Henri III of France, and Catherine de Médicis, regent of France, archduke of Austria in 1596, Anne of Austria, wife of the King of France Louis XIII, in 1615, the Princess of Des in 1705, the Earl of Artois, future Charles X, in 1782, Charles of Spain, Philippe V Spain… After the fire of 1936, during the Spanish civil war, it was rebuilt and today presents the physionomie of a rectangular house, entirely built in stone stone. The superb baroque entrance door is flanked by two Doric columns that support a entablature in frise. The whole is surmounted by a broken pediment that frames a heraldic stone coat. Inside, a gallery of names and portraits illustrates the characters who housed in this building as a national historic monument in February 1964.
