ALDERDI-EDER GARDENS
Gardens in front of the City Hall, made up of tamarind trees, places to watch the fireworks of the Semana Grande in August
Their name means "beautiful site" in the Basque language. Created in 1880, these gardens, always black with people, are located in front of the Town Hall (1887), an elegant Belle Epoque building that once housed a casino! Designed by the French landscaper Pierre Ducasse, the gardens are dotted with tamarind trees, a coastal species that resists the onslaught of the sea entrances. In August, it is one of the unmissable gathering places to attend the Semana Grande fireworks. Its pretty merry-go-round with the bay as a backdrop offers a postcard setting!
