CATEDRAL DEL BUEN PASTOR
Neo-Gothic cathedral with a Neo-Gothic tower, a façade with La Cruz de la Paz and the largest organ in Spain
Built in the 19th century in a neo-Gothic style, the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd was inaugurated in 1897 by the Regent Marie-Christine and her son Alfonso XIII. Built with stones from Mount Igueldo, it has a 75-metre high neo-gothic tower. Its main façade is notable for La Cruz de la paz (The Cross of Peace), the work of the famous Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida. Inside the cathedral, notice its organ inaugurated in 1954: it is the largest in Spain and one of the largest in Europe!
