PARK OF AIETE
Neoclassical palace, one of the most beautiful in the city, which houses the House of Peace and Human Rights in Donostia
This neoclassical-style palace (1878), former summer residence of General Franco, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the city. Its magnificent gardens, designed by landscape architect Pierre Ducasse, are a haven of peace and romance. They are inhabited by about a hundred species of trees and plants, adorned with a pond, caves and waterfalls. The palace now houses the House of Peace and Human Rights. Just next door, a very modern building, practically buried under the gardens, houses a cultural centre.
