AQUARIUM SAN SEBASTIÁN
Aquarium with basins housing marine species and a transparent tunnel where you can observe about forty marine species
Located in the old port of San Sebastián, the aquarium occupies a 1928 building where more than 200 marine species are on display. In addition to the "aquarium" section itself, there is also an exhibition on the maritime history of the region, which focuses on the themes of fishing, Basque whalers and maritime trade. Richly illustrated with paintings and models, this section also deals with the creation of the Gipuzkoa Oceanography Society, the founding entity of the aquarium, which was one of the pioneers of oceanographic research in Spain.
The aquarium, for its part, brings together some thirty basins where dozens of marine species from the Atlantic Ocean, but also from tropical seas, are represented. The highlight of the visit is its huge 36-metre long transparent tunnel, allowing a 360° view of some 40 marine species, including sharks, turtles, rays and moray eels.
The guided tour in French will teach you, for example, that 10% of the water in the aquarium is renewed daily by sea water, that in one year the fish consume 6,700 kg of food and that it takes 3 hours a day to clean the acrylic tunnel. For the most intrepid, a night activity will allow you to sleep inside the aquarium! The site also has an auditorium and a postcard and souvenir shop. Above the building, the Bokado restaurant serves refined cuisine with beautiful views of the Concha River.

Le prix de l'entrée 13€ est assez chère a comparer a d'autres aquarium plus complet.
