SANTUARIO DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE ITZIAR
Temple dedicated to St. Mary which houses a Romanesque image of the Virgin in Deba
Renovated in the 16th century, this temple has only one nave, without intermediate columns, of singular width and composed of three rectangular bays. Dedicated to Saint Mary, the sanctuary houses a Romanesque image of the Virgin, as well as an extraordinary Plateresque altarpiece depicting scenes from the Virgin's life. This 16th-century altarpiece is the work of Andrés de Araoz. Outside the temple, note the sculpture by Jorge Oteiza, entitled The Motherhood.
