Caves, including Ekain, and prehistoric sites in Deba, which are among the most important in the Basque Country

There are around fifty caves and prehistoric sites in Deba's territory. This underground network is home to some of the most important deposits in the whole of the Basque Country. The most famous cave is the Ekain cave. It is home to the most beautiful group of horses of the Franco-Cantabrian art, a marvel of cave art classified by Unesco. If this site is closed to the public, you can visit its replica right next to it. Some of the pieces discovered in these caves are kept in the San Telmo Museum in San Sebastian and the Archaeological Museum in Bilbao.
