AOM BOSQUE
An animated forest allowing to admire surprising geometrical shapes on the tree trunks
In the forest of Oma, the Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola used the landscape as a setting and raw material for his art, creating a whole expanse of pine trees with trunks painted in a variety of colours and patterns. Close to the modern trend known as land art, this "animated" forest, created in the 1980s, is a whimsical space where the tree trunks reveal - depending on the point of view - surprising geometric shapes: lips kissing, figures, hands, eyes, snowy peaks, children... The perception also varies according to the season.
