IGLESIA DE SAN ANTÓN

Gothic church built towards the end of the 15th century on the banks of the Nervión, a stone's throw from the Ribera market. Represented on the coat of arms of the Villa, it appears as an important symbol of the history of Bilbao. Its Baroque bell tower dates from the 18th century, while the Renaissance portal dates from the 16th century. Unfortunately, the floods of 1983 caused much damage to the interior of the church, destroying most of the furniture. However, it still has some interesting pieces, notably the Plateresque altarpiece of La Piété.
