CONSISTORIAL HOUSE
The City Hall building, of eclectic style, is the work of the municipal architect Joaquín Rucoba
Built in 1892, the eclectic-style Town Hall building is the work of the municipal architect Joaquín Rucoba, who also built the Arriaga Theatre and the old warehouses that became Azkuna Zentroa. The work, begun in 1883, was completed nine years later. The architect was inspired by the classicism of the French architecture of the Third Republic to design the monumental facade of the building. The interiors mix neo-Renaissance inspiration and neo-Arabic influences, especially in the reception room.
