SOCIEDAD BILBAÍNA
This building shows clear architectural influences from Central Europe
This building, built in 1913, shows clear architectural influences from Central Europe. It is a private club whose interior reflects the English habits of the Bilbao bourgeoisie at the beginning of the 20th century. The Sociedad Bilbaína was founded in 1839, at the height of the Carlist War, as a place to meet, read and relax. Before occupying its current headquarters, the club resided for almost 75 years in the Plaza Nueva. The Sociedad Bilbaína regularly receives illustrious visitors for conferences or lunches.
