EL MIRADOR DE ARTXANDA
Mirador located at 250 meters of altitude, offering a privileged view of the city
Situated at an altitude of 250 metres, this watchtower offers a privileged view of the city. Once frequented by chimbo hunters (an endemic bird species) and by the guests of the casino destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, today it is the perfect place to take a breath of fresh air while enjoying the panoramic view of Bilbao. The summit of Mount Artxanda can be reached by a funicular built in 1913. Reshaped in 1937 after being bombed during the Civil War, and in 1983 it was redesigned and taken from Castaños Street, next to the Town Hall.
