HERMITAGE OF SAN MIGUEL DE ZUMETXAGA
This hexagonal hermitage is one of the few monuments of Romanesque architecture in Biscay
This hexagonal-shaped hermitage dates from the 13th century. It is the oldest place of worship of Christianity in the region, one of the few monuments of Romanesque architecture in Bizkaia. Inside, two enormous rocks leaning against each other form a sort of natural chapel. The isolated location of the hermitage, in a mountain pass, gives it even more charm. It is possible to visit the interior by asking for the keys in the house just opposite.
