Vitoria's patron saint's day, in honour of San Prudencio. For 2 days, parades to the rhythm of drums and popular romería!
The fiestas of San Prudencio, patron saint of the historic territory of Álava, are held every year on 27 and 28 April. The festivities kick off from the balcony of the palace in the Plaza de la Provincia de Vitoria, where trumpeters perform the Retreta. Another important moment of the festivities is the Drum Parade, during which members of the various gastronomic societies parade through the streets of the old town to the sound of drums, dressed in chef's costumes. The following day there is a romería (pilgrimage) to the Basilica of Armentia.
