CHURCH OF SAN MARTÍN DE TOURS
Church with an austere and solid construction, in the Plaza Iparragirre, playing a sacred and defensive role
Here, the little treasure to be discovered is a 13th century temple whose apse is decorated with remarkable polychrome frescoes illustrating scenes from the Gospel. These beautifully executed paintings were discovered behind the altarpiece of the church in 1967. The origin of the church, located in Plaza Iparragirre, probably dates back to the foundation of the city. Its austere and solid construction suggests that, in addition to its sacred role, it also played a defensive role.
