BASILICA NUESTRA SEÑORA LA VIRGEN DE LA VEGA
Baroque-style basilica built in 1703, featuring a Gothic altarpiece depicting the town's patron saint.
The basilica, a Baroque building with three naves, was built in the early 18th century on the ruins of a much older hermitage, in 1703 to be precise, according to the plans of Bernardo de Munilla and Juan de Villanueva, while Pedro Orcaechea, Ignacio Escurra and Pedro de Elejalde were the master builders. It has a Gothic altarpiece depicting the patron saint of the town dating from the 14th century, to whom it is dedicated and to whom a number of miracles are attributed.
