MUSEO NICANOR PIÑOLE
Museum offering a more intimate view of the artist through his personal objects and customary scenes
In the city centre, this enclave of regional art, sheltered by an eclectic-style building dating from 1905, built under the direction of Miguel Garcia de la Cruz, is dedicated to the painter Nicanor Piñole, a native of Gijón and a great exponent of twentieth-century Asturian painting. His notebooks of watercolours and drawings take us back to life at the beginning of the previous century, through portraits, customary scenes and landscapes. There are also personal objects, such as photographs and furniture, offering a more intimate view of the artist.
