MUSEO DE BELLAS ARTES
Museum of Fine Arts of Spain with more than 15,000 works and collections of religious paintings
In the refined setting of Velarde's palace (18th century), it is one of the most important fine arts museums in Spain. In total, more than 15,000 works are on display. From the collections of religious painting, including some beautiful pieces from the Flemish school of the 16th century, to the populist saga of the regional painter Alvarez Sala (early 20th century), whose miner murdered during a strike evokes the bloody workers' riots in Oviedo in 1934, through sculpture and engraving, this museum offers an extensive panorama of Asturian art.

Very good collection of paintings: Picasso, Antonié Tapié, Ribera, Murillo...lie alongside excellent indigenous painters of the last century.
But also an exceptional collection of portraits hagiographies due to the brush of really brilliant Greco.
