Très content de cette découverte : Repas copieux et bon, service très sympa et ambiance + cadre traditionnel d'un Pub. A deux pas de l'arrêt du bus Airlink 100, navette pour l'aéroport --> très pratique.

The food was outstanding a lovely place to eat and drink . The barman matty was so warm and friendly and so welcoming . Would recommend to anyone to visit one of the nicest meals we've had in Edinburgh. Carol and Bob x

We stepped in at noon for a short break and stayed longer than we expected to! The pea & mint soup is very delicious, the garlic bread was okay. The prices and quality of cocktails are quite good. The bartender was very friendly and gave us a good and detailed advice about our choice of whisky, since we didn’t have a clue about that in general. I don’t have a reference but I think 14£ for two small whisky’s isn’t that cheap.

In their website and Google map they said they served food until 22:00 but at 20:50 they refuse to get our order and the barman was really rude.

Pleasant city centre bar with an interesting history.
It was once the favoured watering hole of famous Scottish poets such as Hugh MacDiarmid and Norman MacCaig and also had a reputation for being a hub of left-wing politics, so much so that the downstairs anteroom was nicknamed the “Little Kremlin”.
These days it’s part of the Belhaven chain, but it still has much of it’s old charm and character.
The beer is very good and reasonably priced, the staff are friendly and efficient and the surroundings are pleasant and clean.
I was there on a cold Thursday evening and the sight of a real fire was most welcoming.
I didn’t have food but I’d like to have a meal here at sometime in the future.

Uncomfortable experience ever. I don’t know why but I felt unwelcome by staff downstairs. Will not be back.

Quite a scruffy wee pub when you get inside (downstairs). Loads of bar flies (look after your pint!)
To be charged premium prices, you'd hope for a cleaner, less cluttered venue

A great pub for a few drinks only a short walk from Princes street.

It was very busy on NYE but there are plenty of seats as they have a large downstairs area.

Additionally, with 2 bars it's easy to get served quickly as one is always busier than the other.

My preferred pub in town. It is on the pricey side, you can definitely find a pint cheaper, but the atmosphere is always good, the staff are 9 times out of 10 super friendly (we all have bad days) and anytime I've ordered food it's always been good, they also have decent vegetarian options. It's a busy place but even so the tables have never been sticky and I don't worry about catching anything from the toilets, overall the hygiene standards seem up to scratch. So if you're looking for a pub where you can have a drink and a decent meal and enjoy time with your friends in a friendly environment where you can actually have a conversation, give Milnes a visit.
