It is hidden behind Princes Street, away from the tourist life. Original decorative elements (dating from 1862) have been preserved, in particular the mosaics recounting moments of life in the 19th century. Seafood has been enjoyed within these walls since Victorian times! Among other fish dishes and beautiful seafood dishes, the house's specialty remains oysters, served fresh on its bed of ice, with lemon. One of the most beautiful pubs in Edinburgh and in that respect, it deserves a break!

Good old fashioned setting and plenty of choice of drinks

This was a great dinner! They were nice enough to accommodate us even though we hadn't made a reservation. I would suggest making reservations as they are very busy

We love it here! Every day out in Edinburgh either starts or finishes at Cafe Royal for a drink!

Very popular bar and restaurant with separate Oyster Bar. Lots of wonderful architecture and tiled murals. Very good menu and a great selection of Whisky and Ale's. Well known for their Bloody Mary's. . Outside and upstairs is part of the building and is known as the Voodoo lounge. Worth a visit. During the Evening.
