Perfectly typical of Stockbridge, Hector's is a trendy, relaxed gastro-pub with a rounded storefront. It's just as much a place for a good meal as it is for a drink. It's the local hangout - or canteen - for many local residents. The decor is that of a modern, friendly brasserie, and you can enjoy good burgers, steaks, lasagne, pies, duck confits and more. Try it on Sunday evenings for a traditional roast in an authentic family atmosphere.

My son and girlfriend visited from Newcastle and we decided to have sunday roast dinner at Hector's as it is in the top 10 list of popular places for Sunday roast. 3 of us ordered chicken roast dinner and 1 crofters pie. After a wait of 55 mins the food arrived and the roast dinners were cold. We complained, the food was taken and told the replacement dinners would only be a few minutes. We were offered free drinks at this stage. Roast dinners came back 25 minutes later and still cold. Even the gravy in individual gravy boats were stone cold. By this time we were really hungry but decided we didn't want to wait any longer. We told our server we didn't want food nor were we going to pay. The only hot food was the crofters pie which was eaten.
We went to Scottish Engineers, food there was piping hot.
I have no idea why Hector's are in to top 10 popular restaurants for Sunday roasts. Maybe popular to visit but definitely not for food. The system does not allow to give no stars so had to give 1 star.

Stepped into this joint on a Thursday afternoon, kids in tow, for a little grub and some brews! The kiddo menu was... well, let's just say it was there.
Food hit the table at lightning speed, a pleasant surprise indeed! My oldest, all of 10 years, gave the chicken bits a lukewarm reception—maybe a tad too fancy for their taste buds. But hey, for us grown-ups, not too shabby!
Overall, it was decent. Not exactly mind-blowing, but not a total bust either! Props to the attentive staff, though. Kudos to them! Seems like Edinburgh could use a few more spots like this for us parental types! Cheers to that!

If we had to find fault it would just be to say it’s not the closest and bumping the temperature up a few degrees would be lovely…. But a minor issue relative!
