The most unaccommodating and rude staff. Do not eat here, they do not deserve their Michelin star simply for the reason of having a rude and disrespectful staff. Save your money and go anywhere else. Far better food and diverse menu at other establishments like Cote, Number One, and The Kitchin.

Have been here before and loved first time and ok second time! Great location definitely… welcome good.. but slow after that to be honest. Food was good but not fabulous..wine flight good and one was spectacular. For over £400 for the food and wine flight ( plus the 2 extra wines each because wine was meagre)! I suggest Fishers for meal and ocean mist for drinks/ cocktails. Sorry Martin wishart????

Still the best restaurant in and around Edinburgh

One of the best meals we've had. We were visiting Edinburgh and booked ahead for their lunch menu, which is very reasonably priced for the quality. We were treated to several amuse bouchés before our main meal which we weren't expecting, and these were delicious and very well thought out. The starter of scallop squid ink risotto was exquisite - definitely my favourite course. The halibut was perfectly cooked. The dessert of dulcey chocolate cremeux tart was an absolute triumph. The staff went the extra mile to make sure we're looked after (including offering us more bread to mop up the delicious butter and accompaniments). All in all a spectacular meal!

Lovely 60th Birthday for Anne.

Unquestionably one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Contacted the restaurant with a couple of weeks notice to see if they could do a vegan menu and what they did was incredible. Probably one of the best things I've ever eaten was the pasta dish with morels. The tasting menu and the wine pairings are just on another level. This is for a really special occasion and the staff were wonderful. Thank you so much!

We came to celebrate an important birthday and were not disappointed. Wonderful food exceptional service and well priced good wines. Our party of 12 thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would very much recommend any party to go to this fantastic restaurant. Thank you all for making our evening so special.

We went to celebrate an anniversary. We enjoyed the tasting menu for dinner and it was excellent! Stand out aspects were the beetroot horseradish macaron, halibut ceviche, Orkney scallop with caviar. The staff are knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The decor is elegant and understated. It was a wonderful experience and we will be back. Highly recommended!!!!

A gorgeous menu with tasting option and market option.
We had the market option which was delicious. We accompanied the meal with a glass of red and the cheese course with a glass of tawney port.
The only thing to bring down the total scores was the plastic table decorations, they may last longer than real plants but they just don't cut the mustard in today's environmental conditions.

I had the 3-course lunch menu. Taste was phenomenal. The dishes were designed in a choreographed way, whichever starter or main you have chosen. Portion was just right for lunch, although I would love to have one more bite (when it was this good). Cocktail selection was wonderful, too. This is the sort of restaurant to come across my mind every time I want to eat out in Edinburgh.

Perfect at all

The food was good, but for a Michelin star restaurant we felt there was a lot lacking. We tried the tasting menu and the best parts of the meal were the amuse-bouche at the beginning and the petit fours at the end. The middle courses were good, but nothing overly inventive or surprising. The real disappointment was the main course, which for our night was grouse. My piece had a thick piece of silver skin running through it that I could not cut through, as well as a particularly unappetising vein at one end. I just left it on my plate and ate everything around it. They never acknowledged it or asked me why I didn’t eat my main course, even when they cleared everything away, which I thought was quite strange for a restaurant that prides itself on service. And speaking of service, they were nice, but there were cracks - for example, when someone poured my water some spilled on the table, but this was never wiped up. Overall, if you’re going to have a Michelin star and a high price tag then the expectations of guests are going to be elevated, and disappointingly they just didn’t hit the mark for what this restaurant professes to be.

A lovely experience. My second visit after a 9 year gap. Faultless service and attentive staff. Food delicious. Would recommend.

I like a restaurant with views if you’re going to be close to the next table. I can’t complain about anything, I was just not overly impressed.

100% d'accord avec Petit Futé concernant le sevice chez Martin Wishart à Edimbourg. C'était vraiment impeccable. Ça m'a beaucoup plu.
