The Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, also known as the Royal Edinburgh Infirmary, is Scotland's oldest voluntary hospital. Founded in 1729, it offers a full range of emergency medical and surgical services, as well as specialist services for patients from Lothian and the south-east of Scotland. Services include emergencies, acute medicine, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, neonatology, elderly medicine, orthopedic surgery, renal medicine and dialysis, respiratory medicine, sleep medicine, stroke medicine, transplant surgery (kidney and liver) and vascular surgery.
