BAMBURGH CASTLE
This fabulous citadel is certainly the most imposing monument in the region, proudly facing the North Sea. References are made from the th century, but its contemporary face is the work of the Norman people in the th century. The castle quickly becomes the property of the English crown, which is used to launch raids on the Scottish border. After the deterioration of successive wars, the site is acquired and renovated by the Victorian industrialist William Armstrong. It's a patrimoine of heritage and gigantism not to miss.
