Behind a dazzling and electric metal facade, this 19th century square - its construction dates back to 1840 - was redeveloped in the 1980s into a superb shopping mall that is visited for jewellery, ready-to-wear and beauty products. Scottish designers and creators have boutiques here, with names such as Sheila Fleets (jewellery designed and made in Orkney) or Eden Mill gins, which offer workshops for distilling your own gin. It also hosts bars and restaurants.
